CollOvine Performance Comparison

CollOvine was subjected to a 3D cell invasion assay, a common assay to assess tumor cell invasive properties. Breast cancer cell (BT549) spheroids were mixed with either CollOvine or a Type I rat tail collagen from another vendor. While the rat tail collagen was used at 2 mg/mL final concentration (as recommended by the vendor), CollOvine was used at lower concentrations (0.25 mg/mL, 0.5 mg/mL and 0.75 mg/mL). The study showed that the invasion area can be achieved with much lower concentrations of CollOvine (0.25 mg/mL) compared to a commonly used rat tail collagen at a much higher concentration (2 mg/mL).

  • This test compared the performance of OviGenex collagen with an industry leading vendor Type I collagen in a three-dimensional (3D) cell invasion assay.
